What is Pocketbell?
Pocketbell is a push notification service for Apple devices. Anything that can make an HTTP request, from a server or a script to a service with a webhook, can send a notification that arrives on your iPhone, iPad and Mac.
How do I send a notification to my iPhone from a script?
Create a Source in the Pocketbell app and copy its API key. Then send a POST request to https://api.pocketbell.dev/v1/messages with the key as a bearer token and a message in JSON. One curl command is enough.
Can I use Pocketbell with a service that only sends webhooks?
Yes. A webhook Source gives you a URL that accepts JSON, a form or plain text. Templates such as {{check.name}} is {{status}} turn the event’s fields into a title and a message, and the app previews the result from the latest event.
How do Critical notifications work?
A Critical notification repeats every five minutes until someone acknowledges it, the sender cancels it, or it expires after an hour, and you can set both times. The sender can check its status at any time, and with Pro receive a signed callback when it is acknowledged or expires.
Can a notification ask me something?
Yes. Send a notification with up to three options, such as Approve and Deny, and they appear as buttons on it. Tap one on any of your devices and the sender gets the answer, by checking the notification’s status or, with Pro, through a signed callback. The first answer counts, and the question clears on your other devices.
Can I approve Claude Code’s permission prompts from my iPhone?
Yes. Connect Claude Code to a Claude Code Source, and when it asks permission while you are away, the prompt arrives on your iPhone, iPad or Mac with Allow and Deny. Pocketbell waits about a minute before it notifies you, so at your desk you answer in the terminal as usual. If nobody answers, Claude Code keeps asking in the terminal; nothing is ever allowed by default.

Yes. The title and message travel inside the push itself, so the Lock Screen shows the real text even if the app has not been opened in days. Each device reports when a notification arrives, so the sender can see exactly where it was delivered.

Does Pocketbell use Firebase or any Google service?
No. Pocketbell sends notifications directly to Apple’s push notification service. No Google service is anywhere between your request and your devices.
What data does Pocketbell keep?
Your account is Apple’s sign-in ID, with no name or email address. The server keeps your notifications for your plan’s history, 7 days on Free or 90 on Pro, and your devices’ push tokens. There is no advertising and no tracking, and deleting your account in the app removes all of it.
