Proxmox VE
Proxmox VE 8.3 and later, and Proxmox Backup Server 3.3 and later, can send notifications to a webhook with a body you write. Failed backups, replication errors and updates then arrive on your devices.
This uses a webhook Source: a backup’s notification carries its whole log, and a webhook Source cuts a long message to fit instead of refusing it.
Set it up
Section titled “Set it up”-
In the Pocketbell app, create a Source named Proxmox, choose Webhook, set its Default Priority, such as Important, and copy its URL.
-
In Proxmox VE, open Datacenter → Notifications, and under Notification Targets, add a Webhook. In Proxmox Backup Server, it’s Configuration → Notifications.
-
Fill in:
-
Method/URL:
POSTand the Source’s URL,https://api.pocketbell.dev/v1/hooks/pbw_… -
Headers:
Content-Typewithapplication/json -
Body:
{"title": "{{ escape title }}", "message": "{{ escape message }}", "severity": "{{ severity }}"}
-
-
Send a test from the target. In the app, open the Source: it shows the event. Set the title template to
{{title}}and the message template to{{message}}, and save. -
Under Notification Matchers, add a matcher that sends the notifications you want, for example severity error and warning, to this target.
How it behaves
Section titled “How it behaves”escapemakes the title and message safe inside a JSON string, so a backup log with quotes in it still makes a valid request.- A message longer than 4,096 characters is cut to fit, with the start of the log kept. A whole request over 64 KB is refused, which only a very long log reaches.
- Every notification arrives at the Source’s priority. For errors that should repeat until you acknowledge them, make a second webhook Source set to Critical, a second target with its URL, and a matcher for severity error only.
